The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Backend Developer with expertise in Python, Django, and cloud infrastructure to help us enhance and scale the core backend systems that power the Nami platform. This role is ideal for someone who’s hands-on with modern DevOps and cloud-native tools, and enjoys building elegant APIs and high-performance services.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role working to improve the tools our customers use every day
Compensation: $75,000 – $180,000 USD annually, depending on experience and location. This is a contract role with the potential to transition to full-time.
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement scalable backend services using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework
- Develop and evolve internal and public-facing APIs used by mobile and web clients
- Build infrastructure-as-code with Terraform to manage Google Cloud resources
- Optimize data storage and retrieval with PostgreSQL, Redis, and event queues (e.g. Pub/Sub)
- Improve observability and system health with logging, metrics, and tracing
- Collaborate with frontend and mobile teams to define API contracts and backend logic
- Contribute to deployment pipelines, testing automation, and CI/CD workflows
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience
- Deep experience with Python, Django, and REST API development
- Experience deploying and scaling apps on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar (AWS, Azure)
- Solid understanding of Terraform, Docker, and cloud-native DevOps
- Strong relational database skills, ideally with PostgreSQL
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, iterative environments with a remote-first team
Bonus Experience
- Experience with Kubernetes, Cloud Run, or serverless patterns
- Familiarity with event-driven architecture (e.g., GCP Pub/Sub, Kafka)
- Knowledge of SaaS metrics, billing systems, or mobile analytics
- Prior work with distributed tracing and observability tools like OpenTelemetry
